A closed narrative is somthing like a movie that ends with the story being wrapped up and is usually found in things like sit-coms so the viewer doesn't have to watch any of the previous episodes.

An open narrative is when it ends on a cliffhanger and is often seen in things like movies so they can easily carry on to another movie in a money making initiative.
